Our Emerald City FC Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL) team remains
undefeated in the season so far, with a win and a draw in Oregon over the weekend.
Friday night, the team had a 2-1 lead going into extra time at the end of the
match. The referee posted 2 minutes of extra time to be played, but at the end
of the 4th minute of extra time, Eugene managed to knock home a goal on a corner
kick to give the home side a 2-2 draw. Saturday afternoon our Emerald City FC
Team took to the field in Bend, Oregon against the Oregon Rush. This time,
there was no doubt as our ECFC side put away 5 goals and maintained a clean
sheet to earn a solid victory. With those results, Emerald City FC sits in 3rd
place in the league table with 10 points, still with one less game played than
the Portland Rain who sit above us on the table with 11.
Issaquah sit atop the table with 14 points on 7 games, but have yet to play
our Emerald City FC side. With four games remaining in the regular season for
ECFC, (including two against Issaquah), we are still poised to finish in first
place in the Northwest Division in our inaugural year and earn a bid to the
Regional Championships in San Diego in late July.
The next two weeks will be busy for our Emerald City FC Team and will be
critical in the playoff picture. First up, Emerald City FC will host the Oregon
Rush next Saturday afternoon, July 7 at 3:00pm at Interbay Stadium.
The following Wednesday, July 11, our Emerald City FC will host the first
Seattle darby against Issaquah at 6:45pm at Interbay Stadium. This is the last
home match of the year and will be a critical match in the standings in the
Northwest Conference. Please plan to come and support our team in what should
be a great match!
Friday, July 13, Emerald City FC will play at Spokane at 7:00pm. There
will be a club fan bus going to the match and Emerald City FC will have a girls
U13/ U14 team going along to play a pre-game match in the stadium against a
Spokane youth team.
On Sunday, July 15, our Emerald City FC WPSL Team will play the final match
of the regular season at Issaquah at 7:00pm. Admission will be free for this
match and we hope to have a great fan base come support the team in their bid to
finish at the top of the Northwest Conference.
