(November 20, 2011) Well done to the youngest members of Emerald City FC for winning the U8/9 Boys Blue division in the 2011 PSPL Fall Dev League. ECFC M02 coached by the clubs newest coach Simeon Steward, played a great first season beating out teams from Crossfire, ISC and SSC for the top spot. They finished first in their division (6-0-2) scoring 31 goals and only conceding 13. ECFC once again congratulates the players and families of M02 and wish you the best of success in the coming 2012 Spring Dev Season.

Great turnout for Emerald City FC and PSPL Special Topics Event with National Clinician Jeff Tipping
(November 16, 2011 Seattle, WA.) Emerald City FC was proud to host NSCAA Master Coach, Jeff Tipping on Tuesday, November 15 at Ingraham High School for the kick off of the new PSPL Coaching Education Initiative, "PSPL Special Topics" that will feature twice monthly open coaching education sessions. Coach Tipping ran his session on "Developing strikers for elite youth teams" in front of a crowd of about 50 coaches from around the Puget Sound region as well as a large number of Emerald City FC parents, players and staff. In all, over 100 people attended the event and were treated to some great insights on training attacking players.
This event highlights Emerald City FC's commitment to education and I was extremely pleased to see a good representation from our club of not only coaches, but players and parents as well. This caps a great week of continuing education for the club with our first Parent Education and open Q & A event last Sunday evening at Arena Sports at Magnuson Park. This was also a successful event with great dialog between the parents, coaches and board members in attendance. We will continue to hold monthly Parent Education and Open Q & A meetings and will also post the schedule for the PSPL Special Topics events on our club website to provide additional opportunities for all of our members to continue to learn about the game throughout the year.
I am excited by the way these events are bringing our club members together, helping to strengthen our bond as a club and developing more of a sense of community and culture around the game in Seattle. Thank you to all who have attended these events!

Emerald City FC hosting National Clinician Jeff Tipping
Emerald City FC is very proud to be hosting Jeff Tipping, the former National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Director of Coaching Education for a clinic at Ingraham High School stadium, Tuesday, November 15 from 7:00 to 8:30pm. Bobby Howe’s M97 Green team will be serving as the demonstraton team for Coach Tipping’s session that is part of a joint NSCAA / Puget Sound Premier League continuing education program. The session is open to all of our members.
This is a rare and special treat to get a clinician with the experience like that of Jeff Tipping to run sessions here on one of our home fields with our players. Please plan to come and welcome Coach Tipping to Seattle and support our Emerald City FC continuing education efforts!
2011 Open Trials begin November 28th
Emerald City FC is pleased to extend an invitation to all ambitious local area soccer players to attend the inaugural Emerald City FC Open Trials. These trials are available to all U-11 through U-18 boys and girls and are to be held from November 28th through December 16th at the training location for each individual Emerald City FC team.
Open Trials provide the opportunity for players who would like to be considered for inclusion on Emerald City teams for the spring season (January-May) to participate in team and specialty (goalkeeping) training sessions. Participants will gain firsthand experience playing with an Emerald City FC team, and will learn from the personalized instruction of highly-qualified, licensed professional coaches of Emerald City FC. As added benefits, players will receive their own numbered training shirt and those players who attend at least four training sessions will receive a written training evaluation which will help families to make future playing decisions.
